Pop Sickle Cozy Pattern

When I was a kid, I would eat these things like crazy. But I hated the fact that my fingers would be so cold.
So, when I would get out a pop sickle, I would also get out a large towel to wrap around it. Very inconvenient if you ask me. :) So, when I saw the idea for a pop-sickle cozy, I just had to make my own.
I wanted to share with you my own free pattern so that no more fingers freeze in the heat of the summer.  :) :)
ENJOY!

YOU WILL NEED -

Any Color yarn - 4 ply worsted weight. (I used Red Heart yarn.)
Size G hook ( or size to fit gauge)

PATTERN -

Foundation - Ch 3. Join with a slip stitch in the 3rd st from hook to form a ring.
Row 1 : Ch 2. 10hdc in the center of your ring. Join with a slip stitch in the top of ch 2.
Row 2 : Ch 2. 1hdc in each st around. Join.
Row 3-13 : Repeat row 2.

Cut your yarn and fasten it off.

This is a very simple and easy pattern. Great for beginners. :) They are so easy that you can whip several of them out in no time. You can also try using alternating colors. I would love to hear if you have any ideas about new and improved patterns for a pop-sickle cozy.  :)
BYE!!!

Making The Best of It

I am sure that we have all been in a situation where we had to make the best of it. We face things like that everyday. And I really think that we can learn a lot about "making the best of it" from a very special person in the Bible. Does the story of Joseph ring a bell? Well, if it doesn't, let me recap for you. :)

Joseph was the favorite. Gen 37:3 Now, you might say right about now, "Of course he made the best of things, he was handed everything on a silver platter." Well, let me tell you one thing. Joseph didn't ask to be the favorite. And because he was more highly thought of by his father, Josephs brothers hated him. Gen 37:4
They hated him so much that they wanted to kill him. Gen 37:20  Now, one of the older boys had somewhat of a heart and convinced his brother not to kill Joseph but to put him in a pit. Gen 37:21.  They took Joseph's coat from him, threw him in a pit and then sold him. Do you still think he has everything?

The Midianites that bought him took him to Egypt and sold him once again to a man named Potiphar. The Captain of the Guard. Gen 37:28 and Gen 37:36

Now Joseph was a godly man and very smart too. He was good servant to Potiphar, so Potiphar made Joseph the keeper of his household. Joseph made the best of it. :) He didn't curse God. He didn't mope around. He buckled down and did the best he could.  Gen 39:2-5

But once again, evil befell Joseph and he was imprisoned. Gen 39:20. I am sure that Joseph felt the same way anyone would feel if they were wrongly accused and then imprisoned. But that didn't stop him from doing the right thing. He STILL made the best of it. Even the keeper of the prison put him in charge of the prison. WOW!

You see, no matter what happened, Joseph made the best of it. He served God, and as a godly influence to those around him. we may never face the same things that Joseph did. But we can still make the best of whatever situation we are in. For instance, you may move into a house that isn't the best looking, but you can still thank God for a home. You can put your own personality to it. Take care of it because it is a blessing from God. Some people are homeless. Or, you have a job that you aren't really fond of. Just praise God that you have a job and do you best at it. Some people don't have jobs either. If you praise God no matter what happens and just do you best, you will be blessed for it.

Just think, Joseph was practically made king.   ;) See for yourself in Gen 41 and 42.

Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.

DIY Modge Podge Glue :)

Modge Podge glue is a great glue to use with almost all of your DIY projects. Unfortunately it is so expensive. Well, here is a great recipe for making your very own jar.  :)

You will need -
1 pint sized jar with a lid
2 bottles of Elmer's glue
Water
Packing tape and paper (this is for the label)

Empty the two bottles of Elmer's glue into the pint sized jar. The glue should fill the jar up half way. If it doesn't quite come to half way but is pretty close don't worry about it.  :) Fill the rest of the jar with luke warm water. Put the lid on and  shake the jar very well before using. I would recommend shaking it before every use for a good consistency. Then write "Modge Podge" on your label and tape it securely to the jar.  :) And there you have it, your very own jar of Modge Podge that didn't cost you an arm and a leg to get.  :)

Please comment if you have used this recipe and it works for you. I would love to hear about your success.  :)

ENJOY!!!

A Verse Of Encouragement. :)

Psalm 18 : 1-3
I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Whenever I am feeling like I just can't get through the day I go to verses like this. It almost overwhelms me to think of how mighty and powerful MY GOD is.   :) It really comforts me to know that I don't have to rely on my own strength day in and day out. I can call on my Lord to help me. I love that. The next time you just feel so down, call upon the Lord. Give it all over to Him. :)

Announcement

        My Etsy Shop Is Closing.

On June 10th 2013 MadeWithYarnByB will no longer be in service.

I have to say that I am a little sad that this is taking place. However I want to do what the Lord wants. I want to do His will. I want to give my whole life. And if that means giving Him my etsy shop then so be it. Instead I am going to focus on what He has for me in the future. MadeWithYarnByB.blogspot.com will still be up and running. This blog will still be focused on loving God and sharing all the wonderful things that you can make with yarn. You can expect ideas, crafts, and patterns. Tips and suggestions. Bible verses and songs. I hope that you will all stick around. Thanks so much for those who support me everyday in doing the Lord's will.  :)

Have a wonderful day!!!!

Scripture For The Day

LOVE!   Such a little word. However, it packs a huge punch.

1 Corinthians 13 is such a great example about what true Biblical love is. It's something that God is teaching me right now and I thought that I would share it with you.

1 Corinthians 13 : 4 says  - Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

LOVE IS PATIENT

LOVE IS KIND
LOVE DOES NOT ENVY
LOVE DOES NOT BOAST
LOVE IS NOT PRIDEFUL

If we were to pattern our selves just after these 5 things, there would be a great difference in the relationships we have. A HUGE DIFFERENCE. However, there is more.

1 Cor. 13:  5  Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

LOVE DOES NOT ACT INAPPROPRIATELY

LOVE IS NOT SELFISH
LOVE IS NOT EASILY PROVOKED
LOVE DOES NOT THINK EVIL

1 Cor. 13 : 6 - 7   Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

LOVE IS NOT HAPPY WITH SIN
LOVE REJOICES IN TRUTH
IT BEARS ALL, BELIEVES ALL, HOPES ALL, AND ENDURES ALL.

1 Corinthians 13 4-7 is such a beautiful picture of Christ. Especially the latter of all of these. Jesus Christ endured the cross for our sins. He lived a perfect life and died a sinless death, so that you and I could have a home in Heaven with Him. LOVE is truly a powerful thing.
